I find mine on the pier that stretches out to the middle of the pond on our farm. It has a gazebo at the end of it with an open fire ring. I sit out there by myself or with friends and watch the stars, listen to the sounds of the night, or enjoy good company and conversation. It is peaceful and laid back and it centers me to do this on the weekends after a long week at work.
It affects my life in that it allows me to escape into a world of pleasant surroundings. I am a hospice nurse so I need the quiet calm of the nights off so that I can regroup and ready myself for the next week. It helps me to enjoy life after a week of dealing with sickness, death and sadness. It is an honor to be able to assist the dying and their families in their most difficult time of life. It is a taxing job though and quiet reflection is how I find my inner peace.

God brings me peace. I can pray and leave my worries in His care. Also, I have beautiful grandkids that give me happiness.

When I get in my Word, sometimes it feels as if you leave your environment, like reading a good novel, except the Word of God is true.

I go about my day...trying not to let those bad things affect me. It's as if the things that I see on the news are surreal.
