Some female Fan-Tails have just as large and beautiful Tails as the males. Pet Store employees are not always educated in looking closely. They think the bigger the tail they are male but thats not true. Most likely you got a very pretty female and a equally attractive male. Have fun! Guppies will mate often and have many babies so if you find your swamped with them, call the store you bought em from see if they will buy some back. To really tell them apart the Male Guppy has a modified fin on the bottom by the anus called a Gonopodium fin, looks like a little spike. The females dont have that fin.

were the male and femal guppies in the same tank, they could have been pregnant from that. plus females while they are prgnent, they can hold up to 5 -6 pockets of sperm. so they can have babies for like 6 - 8 months with out a male present

All livebearer males will have a modified anal fin (bottom fin closest to the tail) called a gonopodium. It's long and pointed. Go to this link and look at the close-up in the photo:

A female's anal fin will be triangular.
