Hi Terisa,
Why not contact MDAnderson. All the services have social workers. Services are divided depnding on the cancer like Lymphoma, Leukemia, Gastro-Intestinal and so on. The social worker can put your parents in touch with people/addresses/contacts about places to stay. Just call the hospital and ask for the social worker for... where ever your father will be treated. The MDAnderson web pages have also some ideas , likewise Texas Medical Center pages (MDAnderson is part of that)
About Houston -there is a lot to see and do -but the weather is variable, so take some extra layers so you can tackle the weather. (The Houston way is to complain that it is too cold and not buy a warmer coat -but that is no fun!).I would recommend a visit to a library or book shop for a tourist guide of Houston -that would help a lot. Library is cheap but may not have updates.
Galleria is a mall -there are a lot of them, I personally am not fascinated. I read that downtown the Chase building has a 66th floor viewing platform you can go to take a look. There is the NASA which has tours -the harbor is 3rd biggest in USA and they have sight seeing tours with a boat. There are historical monuments. The Web has also a lot. www.houstonhistory.com can give you ideas. There is also really good music, theater, performances like spahouston.org (=society of performing arts) brings in interesting things, and so on and so on.
Welcome and hope the therapies will help
wishes

You could try looking for a Residence Inn - they are set up for executives who are working temporarily in the area so they are set up with a kitchen, living room, etc. You can also check with some apartment complexes in the medical center. Sometimes they are cheaper than a hotel if you're staying for more than a week. Check with the hospital, and they should be able to help you with your arrangements.
As for things to do, Houston is full of great stuff, especially in the medical center area. Less than 15 minutes away is the museum district (I love the science museum, but there are also art and history museums down there and an outdoor ampitheater) and the Houston Zoo. You should also check out what is going on at Reliant Stadium. It is near M.D. Anderson, and they have different stuff going on almost everyday of the week. (You can ride the rail system to any of these destinations, btw). If you're interested in shopping, Rice Village (next to Rice University), is a really fun place to go shopping and go out to eat, and it is not far from the hospital.
If you're in doubt, just check with the hospital. Their staff is excellent, and they handle these types of situations all the time. Best of luck to your dad.

There're several budget friendly bed & breakfast hotels in the heart of KL's "Golden Triangle". It's only a walk away from Berjaya Times Square which has Asia's largest 3D cinema, IMAX, at night you can check out beautiful people strolling along Bukit Bintang area.
