According to someone's post on songmeanings.net, "The song is actually about how Patti Smith inspired KT..."
And wikipedia says, "It is inspired by New York singer and poet Patti Smith, whose album cover for Horses also inspired Tunstall's album cover for Eye To The Telescope."

I would think it is about the stage in her life were she realized her true passion(music) and how she connects it to the world around her...finding her spot in the world. Which is why music is such an important part of her, in a way it helps her understand the world around her better. Therefore her eyes are now open why it is so important to her...it helped her understand the world or some sh*t like that!

I think she is talking about a model... and how she wants to be a model.
