nope the medicine doesn't make them sicker. i disagree with the other posts and think you should treat the tank with the betta in it. it will kill the bacteria that live in the tank. i keep my bettas in divided tanks and keep the tank mate in when i treat. you don't want to get rid of one fishes popeye just to have the other one pick it up and then they swap it back and forth. you might want to verify it is popeye or cloudy eye before treating -- but any eye problem is more likely bacterial. you can treat with maracyn and maracyn2 just to make sure you get rid of all the bacteria if its not popeye. most betta diseases are bacterial -- a few are parasitic (like ich) and very few are fungus (like velvet).

Bettalover is right, yet from time to time the eyes on no account totally get well. i might use betta methylene blue somewhat than coppersafe. Aslo if yuo have money to burn in this you may attempt some Melafix. in my view i might purely shop up the salt, and customary water ameliorations. If the popeye returns attempt and notice in case you could gets some trisulfa, or extra advantageous yet Gel-Tek extremely treatment BX (trisulfa, and nitrofurazone).

Shouldn't be a problem. You might consider moving him to a smaller "treatment" tank if in a large one,so that you won't harm the beneficial bacterial growth in your tank. Maracyn is a good broad spectrum antibiotic. I would suggest that you go to a Aquarium/fish store and peruse their books on Chiclid diseases.
Good luck

My beta has something similar. I think he's fine especially if he's swimming and eating well. Usually if fish are sick you first notice unusual behavior. Watch him closely and do your regular water changes. If he stays active, makes bubble nests, and eats well he is most likely fine.
