mickey and girls just want to have fun? they drive me insane, why do i seem to be the only one?

I think it depends on your age. If you grew up on the 80s then these songs remind you of your childhood. Proms, parties, summers at the beach (etc) -- you heard these songs growing up and can remember where you were when you listened to them.
Songs can bring back LOTS of memories. And besides- lots of 80s music is just plain fun to groove to!
Like I remember where I was when I heard "Jesse's girl!" for the first time. I would say most of us do! ;)

To each his own. I think they are examples of the worst of the 80's, too. How about, "Under a Blood Red Sky," by U2? Better, eh?
