Easily. I am sick of all this hurricane crap and loving the underdog. If you want to live in the past, why not love the Bears. The Chicago Fire wasn't that long ago.

Even though the Saints lost the playoff game thay still have poise and character. Now our number 1 quarterback is in the pro-bowl with 3 other teammates. Coach of the year and the classiest guys are more than fans can ask for. What other NFL team has at least half of them donating time and money back to the community. Wins are great but spirit is what we're about. Bless you boys.

Yes, the city of New Orleans has been through a lot, but what if you're from Chicago? Aren't Chicagoans going to be rooting for their hometown team? And what about New England and Indianapolis fans? They're going to be rooting for their home teams, as well. I live almost equidistant from Chicago and Indy, I don't know anyone here who is rooting for the Saints. Not because they aren't a good story, but because loyalties like elsewhere.

I would agree with you. I am sure there were more people pulling for the saints than most of the other teams. Most of those people probably know football by liking what they see on tv, or belive that by having the new orleans saints win the supper bowl would vastly improve saints fans morale. Both those reasons should be seen as good intentions. I am sure you may feel happy just knowing that most people were pulling for the saints.

Are we talking about the city or the football team? I don't think anyone is against the city and what it has been through but we are talking about a football team here....a business...that had a chance to move to San Antonio and chose not too.
Are we celebrating the fact they stayed and had a good year or because they happen to be in a very poor town that was hit by Katrina. Trust me, this wouldn't even be a story if it was anywhere else in the U.S.

Well its not just what the city has been through but that the team has really show success in what they have done even after what happened to their city. Ppl shouldn't root for them out of pity because the truth is that they are really good and have the potential to win the Super Bowl. Besides if they don't root for the Saints they are the stupid idiots that actually believe that Rex Grossman can perform well ENOUGH to win the NFC championship.
Bunch of stupid idiots.

Your description of what New Orleans has gone through is correct and it does present a "feel good" theme to it.
But, we ARE talking football and the Saints cannot match the Bears depth and talent.
Maybe next year. They have good talent and a very good coach.

I suppose if you are a Chicago Bear or a Chicago Bear fan, you might be against the Saints.
Last week, it was Philadelphia. In two weeks either Indy or New England fans might root against New Orleans. lol
PS to the guy that says the Saints are over rated, you're wrong!

Hmmmm.. my guess would be anyone from New England, Indy, and Chicago... oh yeah and anyone who doesn't really root for football teams based on socioeconomic conditions. What exactly is a Super Bowl going to accomplish for the people of the city of New Orleans? Not much... super bowl ring can't buy you a cup of coffee... those folk need a lot more than a ring down there...
That having been said, it doesn't matter since the Patriots will win their 4th championship in 6 years!

Because this is about a football game and its players. People still have good wishes for the residents of the city, but this isnt about them. Its good that the Saints are giving us something to be happy about, something to cheer for, but wether they win or lose isnt gonna put a house back on someones empty slab.
The Saints need people to root against them anyways, to give them fire! They will win the Super Bowl!
