My baby will be six months on Sunday. Should I be feeding her cereal and baby food now? How many times should I feed her in a day? Should I be giving her juice now?

Yes, you should be feeding her cereal and baby food. No juice until 9 months or later. Start with rice cereal mixed with formula or breastmilk. I fed my little guy 3 small meals a day. After you have been feeding the cereal for a week with no adverse reactions you can introduce one vegetable a week and then move onto fruit. Never introduce more than one new thing at a time so that if your baby has a reaction you will know what it is. I am surprised that your doctor hasn't given you this information.

Yes you can do all of the above. My son just turned 6 months the other day and I started him on all of that about 2 weeks ago. The best way to tell if your baby is ready to eat baby food is to try. If she opens her month for another bite, even if it takes some prompting then its a good time. With the juice, make sure to mix it with 3/4 water, 1/4 juice for the first little while. Juice contiains acid which could do a real number on her little bum when it comes time to have a bowel movement. As for how often, I owuldn't give her more than 2-3 bottles of juice/day, even then, thats alot. As for food, I feed my son his cereal and food 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mix the cereal with formula though, not water..its more filling and more nutritional that way...good luck

I would say that six months is a good time to start. With the cereal I always add some formula from their bottle in it. As for juice i would give half juice and half water for now. Baby food is okay to start now but when you do make sure that you feed them the same type of food for three days to make sure they are not allergic to them.

According to the pediatrics association you should not start your baby with cereal, due to the fact that it is a high carb food, they now believe that is where we all learn our bad eating habits. Instead try mashed bananas or avocados. And only introduce 1 new food at a time so you can tell the doctor what it was if your baby has an allergic reaction to it. Start it once a day, then building to twice a day. Hold off on the juice. And your pediatrician should discuss all of your concerns at your child's 6 month check up

Got this from a check-up form
Four to 6 months is the recommended age to start your baby on solids — that is, the mushy cereal that passes for solids
Start slowly one new food a week (to check for allergies) once a day at first. the work your way up slowly. Rice is usually the first food.
And juice is overrated in my opinion. I'd skip it. Although if you go that route, no more then 4 oz daily and mix it with water.
Your Dr should go over this at 6 month well baby visit.

This is a question to ask your pediatrician. It should be okay by now. Normally you could feed her cereal of a morning, a vegetable or a fruit for lunch and the same for dinner. when you first start feeding a child baby food you should feed the same item to them for a week before changing to something else. This helps to determine if she will have any food allergies. At her 6 month check up ask the doctor what he thinks would be okay.

The juice and cereal I can say yes it's ok to give to your little girl. Though the baby food I would wait on and see how she dose with the rice cereal and juice first. But if you want to try baby food I would go with trying apple sauce baby food first and see how she dose with that and this might sound silly but try putting gas drop's in both cereal and baby food so she wont be in to much pain if it gives her gas

She looks beautiful and healthy. I always started my babies off with cereal and juice early. Always start with rice cereal. As far as the juice, only give one kind at a time for a few days, to make sure there are no allergic reactions. If you are just starting off on cereal, I would only give maybe one ounce at a time, start off at just once a day, so her body can adjust. Then increase it gradually. My oldest child is 32 years old. My youngest is 19 months, and all ages in between. It has worked for us. God bless.
