A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area. The amount of pain a woman feels is not necessarily related to the extent or stage (1 through 4) of endometriosis. Some women will have little or no pain despite having extensive endometriosis affecting large areas or endometriosis with scarring. On the other hand, women may have severe pain even though they have only a few small areas of endometriosis.

Symptoms of endometriosis can include (but are not limited to):

Painful, sometimes disabling menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea); pain may get worse over time (progressive pain)
Chronic pain (typically lower back pain and pelvic pain, also abdominal)
Painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
Painful bowel movements or painful urination (dysuria)
Heavy menstrual periods (menorrhagia)
Nausea and vomiting
Premenstrual or intermenstrual spotting (bleeding between periods)
Infertility and subfertility. Endometriosis may lead to fallopian tube obstruction. Even without this, there may be difficulty conceiving. In some women, subfertility is the sole symptom, and the endometriosis is only discovered after fertility investigations.
In addition, women who are diagnosed with endometriosis may have gastrointestinal symptoms that may mimic irritable bowel syndrome, as well as fatigue.

Patients who rupture an endometriotic cyst may present with an acute abdomen as a medical emergency. Endometriotic cysts in the thoracic cavity may cause some form of thoracic endometriosis syndrome, most often catamenial pneumothorax.

I was diagnosed with endo three years ago. I had severe pain during and after sex, very bad abdominal cramping during the month, and more pain. Everyone, however experience different symptoms. I had several ultrasounds and a laproscopy which actually allowed my GYN to figure out what was ailing me. It's weired because I now have pain in the kidney area on my left side. I don't have appendicitis and I've been through numerous lab tests and they can find nothing. My PCP and GYN recommends I see a nephrologist (kidney dr) to rule out any kidney disease. So that's my next step and you should consider that too.

I also read that the endo tissue can attach itself to other organs and fuse them together. I don't know how common this happens, but it's possible. Definitely tell your dr ALL of the symptoms you're experiencing. Best wishes and good luck!

Yes I do know what my symptoms are. I have been dealing w/ Endo since high school. I have very bad cramps, to the point where I can't get out of bed. They are in my abdomen area, kidney areas and some times it even bothers my bladder. I also loose my appetite, and get very very nausea when trying to eat. The only time when I feel okay is when my cycle actually comes. about a week before and the week after is when the cramps are the worst.

I hope this helps.

Some women who have endometriosis don't feel anything. But for most, usually severe bleeding during menstrual period. I suggest that you wait what your Dr. say after your ultrasound. That's the only way he can tell you if you have it, how big it is, it's exact location and your treatments options. In some cases, they have to do a CAT-SCAN after an ultrasound to confirm exact size and location. Usually they do this if the case is severe.

There is not an exact set of symptoms, usually there are problems with your periods, PAINFUL intercourse, abdominal cramps, more or less, it all has to do with the lowest part of your abs, and your periods. I dont think it sounds like endometriosis. Sorry I cant help you more.

It's not the same for every woman. A year before I had my right ovary removed for severe endo, I had difficult periods- backaches, diarrhea, terrible headaches.

If your kidney hurts, you need to get evaluated immediately. This sounds like an emergency. Can you afford to go to an emergency room?

Call your obgyn back and tell him/her that this is serious.
