This site is an excellent starting place, and it covers all courses, and if you stick to the choices on the site below, it is all free.

Of course, there are also course specific sites such as math.com, which includes math instruction only.
Good luck! The COMPASS test is very similar to the GED test, so if he doesn't find anything online, or needs something to guide his search for online instruction, your local library or book store will have a GED prep book available.

You don't really need to study for the COMPASS. I wish the school would have explained it to your husband better so he wouldn't have to stress about it. It's a placement assessment. It's just a tool to help figure out where he needs to start. Like should he start in basic math or advanced algebra. The best thing for him to do is not worry about it, take the test and then go on from there. I don't think that a COMPASS has ever kept anyone from getting into a school or anything. Good luck to you both.

I'm not sure about any websites that help with highschool math. It has been a few years since I took the COMPASS test, though it was pretty easy and I'm terrible at math. I'm going to Indian Hills Community College and they pretty much let me take anything I want. So I'm not sure that it is really a big deal. I think that they give the COMPASS more to just see where each student is at. But if you have any questions for me about it you can email me at kutzygirl@yahoo.com

There is no reason to study for that exam. Its a placement tool. Meaning if he knows the material he can start where he normally would. If he is lacking in mathematical skills he would be placed in remedial courses to make up for any deficiency and provide a solid building block for further advancement. i.e. he may have to take a class or 2 extra.
Secretly: Most of the time you can blow off the "Extra" leveling courses if he was to wait a few semesters before enrolling in whatever class he showed up as weak in on the exam. Meaning... if they want him to take remedial algebra, wait 2 or 3 semesters and just sign up for college algebra.

When I took mine the math was very basic and they let you use a calculator and scratch paper. I was bad at math in school and I did good on it. There should be practice tests online if you search around.
