I'm planning on going to Ireland on vacation in a few months and some friends of mine (who are from the UK) were giving me some tips about Ireland and then they all jumped in with how incredibly racist they all are. Is that true? I had never heard that before.

Totally untrue. I'm Irish and at work now where I am good friends with 2 Indians and a chinese man. Among my close friends I count an American girl, a french guy and i'm also friendly with a black african neighbouring family.
Don't believe everything you hear.

Not that I've ever heard of, the Irish have suffered a lot during their history of British rulership. But I honestly haven't meet an Irish person that was racist, most of them are happy go lucky people. Love their accent too.

No, it isn't true. I am half Irish and I am not racist. I also have a friend who is from Ireland and she is not racist.

The only Irish people who are racist are the ones who have met people of other races.

There is no way that's true. How can you say each individual person is part of a huge compilation of people (ending at the country's borders) that are all huge racists.
That's like saying everyone from China likes eggrolls :)

thats a ridiculously ignorant assumption. are all blondes dumb as a box of hair? no, of course not. some may be racist, but its unfair to label a whole nation of people as such.

I'm part Irish and I've got to say.. I hate everyone who isn't like me, and since there is no one like me (my mother told me so) I hate everyone regardless of race, religion, age, sexual orientation.
