Why do so many football fans hate Notre Dame?

Because every year all the analysts hype them up and say they are gonna be champs and they fall way short. But all there players still get drafted in the first round because they have an "great progam"

How many is so many. I know very few people who are not interested in ND football. Even USC and Michigan fans acknowledge their interest in ND. They have one major TV network which broadcast all their home games and 3 other networks which always put their away game on their schedules somewhere. Hate could be interpreted as envy , agreed. Their players graduate at a normal pace for their degrees as opposed to some "football factories", academic requirements are stringent compared to most of their oppents, and they have a very rich football tradition and storied longevity winning more than losing. Most schools want them on their schedule as they have a garanteed TV game and a full house of their fans who want nothing more than to beat ND.
Not sure your question is phrased properly. I think you intended to ask--"why are so many football fans jealous of Notre Dame?"

I don't know why people hate Notre Dame. They're probably just jealous. It's a great school and I'm proud that I went there.

Its pretty bad when Michigan has to win with Ohio talent.Its not going to be that way any more cause with Jim tressel i see Michigan losing every game until he leaves ,Oh yea Notre Dame is overrated every year, I think I remember allot of people picking them to win it all this year and Brady Quinn was going to win the Heisman trophy how did that work out

It is backlash against the national media billing one particular team as "the franchise" for a certain league. You get the same backlash in other sports, especially towards Yankees, Cowboys, and Lakers.

A lot of fans across the nation are sick of having the Domers jammed down their throats for the past 20 years by NBC (Notredame Broadcasting Company).

Because they think that they are "the best program in college football history," which they're NOT! They think that they are "entitled" to win, when they haven't won spit since 1993!! Remember how they thought Urban Crier-sorry Meyer- would just "walk in" after they wrongly fired Tyrone Willingham? THE MICHIGAN WOLVERINES HAVE THE BEST PROGRAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY, AND HERE'S WHY:

4. ONLY TEAM TO EVER HOLD ALL OF THEIR OPPONENTS SCORELESS FOR AN ENTIRE SEASON.
5. MORE CONSECUTIVE BOWL GAME APPEARENCES THAN ANY BODY ELSE IN HISTORY-32 AND COUNTING!!

I still hate them for bringing out the green jerseys in 1977 against USC! And winning the game.

i can speak for everyone but the reason i dont like them is because they are just as bad as the raiders all they do is whine and complain and everything that happens to them they blame the other teams and the refs it is like back in the day they were great just like the raiders it is really sad
