1. Oil companies. Record profits at a time of record fuel prices
2. Gas station owners. Only local competition makes them lower prices at the pump. If there is only one station in town, you'll pay $5.00 a gallon. Count on it.
3. Government. Something like 30% of the cost of a gallon of gas is taxes. And on that note, does anybody thing the government has any incentive to pursue alternative energy when it gets so much $$$ from gas taxes?
PS: Come to California. Gas is still insanely high here.

Has nothing to do with politics. The oil companies are reaming the public, period. Look at the price of a barrel of oil right now. This the lowest it been for years and yet gas prices haven't dropped proportionately.

I can remember paying under $1.00 a gallon under the Clinton administration so Bush still hasn't improved it, just eased the pain a little.

Since oil is a fossil fuel you can blame the dinosaurs whose rotten petrified bodies are being used to fuel our cars. There just weren't enough of them!

The terrorists are responsible for the initial gas price increase. Now I think that the gas companies are just enjoying the ride!!!
