My boyfriend got a job offen in Denver, Colorodo, and it's kindof too expensive to live in Denver. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a little town, right by Denver, that would be cheap to rent a house in??? It has to be a house, I have 2 children and it seems quite cramped in an appartment rather than a house. Please...any information would help me right now....I live in Michigan, and I've never been to Colorodo!!!

The northern suburbs Thornton, Westminster) are the cheapest. Denver is growing south, so that is more pricey right now. Lakewood is to the west, and is also fairly inexpensive.
Good luck and happy house hunting!

South aurora is inexpensive right now due to all of the forclosures. However, do not rent in north aurora becuase it is rough and has gangs.
If you don't mind driving about 20-30 minutes, then try Littleton or Highlands Ranch. They have good schools and are family oriented there.
Look for rentals in the Denver Post online under Houses and then rentals.
Also, a great site used alot in denver by landlords is Rentclicks.com.
Good luck!

I guess it depends on how much of a commute you want. It can be a pain to get from Castle Rock to Denver in the am because traffic sucks. Highlands Ranch is kind of expensive, but I hear it's nice to live in. My husband commutes almost an hour each way which many say is insane, but we live in a small town north of Longmont. All around Denver is expensive....you'll have to decide what is in your range and then check the Denver Post or call a realtor and see what you can get! Good luck!!

It's a simple tradeoff. The closer you are to the jobs, the more expensive it is. So the answer to your question depends on how much money you have and how much of a commute your husband can stand.
Lakewood might be a compromise. You can get a decent (but small) house for $250,000, or rent one for maybe $1200(?). If you want to spend less than that for a single family house, you're headed out of town (where there are few rentals) or to a less than wonderful neighborhood.
A real estate agent could help you better than us.

Guy above me is correct. I live in and go to high school in a suburb called Brighton. There are teen pregnancies but not very many and my school has almost 2000 students. I've went to school in a small town on the other side of Colorado and percentage wise they had a much higher teen pregnancy rate

Westminster (north of Denver, east of Boulder) has tons of affordable housing options and doesn't have that run-down feel that some of these other places (Lakewood, Aurora) have. There is a commute to downtown but it's not too bad.
I live in Broomfield (just north of Westminster) and I love it but it isn't as affordable as Westminster.

I know Longmont is fairly decently priced however it might be quite a bit of a commute. I live in the North Metro area and we can get to Longmont in about half an hour if the traffic is right.

The further you get away from Denver the "cheaper" things are. Call a newspaper; they can help.....
