There is definitely a double-standard, and reverse racism, while not whole-heartedly accepted, is much more accepted without repercussion than white on black racism.
Like, it's ok to have a completely black beauty contest, but it would not at all fly to have an all white beauty contest. That's completely not allowed.
I think it's terrible that no matter what color a person is, using derogatory words in a "cool" way makes them ok in certain situations. Such as black people using the "N" word. Guess what? It's still ugly! You're not taking on power by using it, instead, you're being laughed at by racist old white men sitting around saying things like "They're so stupid, they call their own selves N****" It's all terrible.
We should all find a way to see beyond color and accept and appreciate each other differences, and it should still be ok to be proud of what race you are at the same time. Sometimes I feel like I'm supposed to feel bad that I am white, or sorry that I am. Guess what? I didn't choose my race - GOD did! My race isn't better than any other and no other race is any better than mine. Lets all just be human, try to get along and find a way to drop the derogatory words from our speech!

What your probably referring to is that whole Michael RIchards thing. I think it's more offensice when white people use the N-word because it has a historical background.
Words like trailer trash have no background, they were created just to make fun white people and really, I wouldn't make a big deal if someone called me that.

Because African Americans were slaves and whites were opressors. If white people can't handle being called crackers or trailer trash, I wonder how they would react if they were slaves for hundreds of years? A person asking a question like this obviously has no idea of the intensity certain words have against African Americans. Read this http://www.jimcrowhistory.org/history/creating2.htm

It isn't right. Not for African American rappers, and not for the news media. There is some historical context that makes people more sensitive to the issue of racial bias in the news media. Which is why people act like "it's the end of the world".

I agree with you. The problem don't sim from basically just racism, but pure green money. Try to understand that the power that therefore, the people encourage black rappers to make unruly remarks that needs to held responsible as well.
As an afriican-american myself, and Christian. I totally agree with your statement. I also have also heard white rappers use racist remarks about blacks.
When the media attacks african-americans keep in mind that their prejudice are against people who are NOT racist against whites or anyone. Therefore, they are offended by their remarks.
When we say "money is route of all evil" this is one of those cases. As you and I, anyone with common sense and decency, we should not fall into that type of nasty racism nor stereotyping anyone.
My opinion is that the churches of America are not using their gifted talents to preach against such rude and nasty actions. Throw your anger to those who encourages them (black and white) by putting it on Cd's and selling at records stores. I am glad you brought this to everyone attention.

Because black people were slaves, as you know, many years ago and I think they have a dislike for any kind of white slur against them for that reason. The white man was never a slave to the black so you can not relate to things the same way as they do. By the way I am a white Canadian lady.

Think about it, They are still trading on the slave history. With out that they would have to abide by a lot, just as we do. And the Muslims are beginning to cry favoritism now also. Profile, i hate the word. If your looks fit the description of the criminal the police are looking for , there should be no come back when the police find that kind of people and round them up.

You raise a very good point. Do you know that rappers are our own version of "trailor trash". Most of them are nothing more than a bunch of low life thugs. And yes, low life thugs do say and do things that are not "politically correct". Rappers do not speak for the average black person (me).
It doesn't matter what race you are, we all have racists among us.

I'm not sure. I've watched comedians on BET trashing white people for years but when a white guy talks about black people he gets boo'd and criticized. It's just this double standard that's been set in the minds of Americans for quite some time.

Because society is over compensating for the racist treatment of black people throughout or history. In another 50 years, things will be allright I think.
It's like when you are driving and hit a patch of ice. Your car slides one way and most people freak out, then turn the wheel to far the other way and cause more problems. We all need to learn not to oversteer.
