They are both male and have been together for a long time...if one dies should I let the other see/smell/"investigate" his body? I know this is sometimes true with bonded rabbits but was wondering if it's the same with guinea pigs? He did die from an illness and the vet told us to keep them seperate until he got better (if). Would the illness still be transferable and therefore dangerous to the healthy one? Thanks.

I'm sorry for your loss. I wouldn't let the healthy guinea pig see the sick one or you could lose them both.

Well, if you mother/sister/brother/father,one of thoughs were to die would you want to see them. Most likely yes, so I think you should. Life is not always easy or happy. Oh and I'm happy everything is/was working out with you two guineas. Did you know they aren't suppose to live together? Surprising Huh?

Well I think that's a good idea. It sounds funny but it's nice to do that just so that maybe he won't feel like if he was left alone. To let him know what really happened. lol
