Well I have to say looks because I see the person first & then find out about their personality. But I have found so many times that the personality is much more attractive than the person's appearance. Appearance doesn't matter but personality does!!

Sure looks mean something but when you get married you're going to want to be with someone you enjjoy not someone who you enjoy looking at. So why not get a head start at personality. The perfect person is probably someone who share some of the same interests as you so you will always have a good flowing conversation.

Obviously the first thing I notice is looks. Though I know it's wrong, I usually base my first impression on looks, and the more attractive person is usually the one I talk to. Now, when I find out their personality, if they are a jerk, it doesn't matter how cute they are, they're being dropped like a hot potato.

Well of course we all use the looks as our first judgment. I mean of course if you were in a room with 5 guys and there was one GORGEOUS guy you would probably want to get to know him first.
The personality is definitely better though. Looks fade, personality stays.

Of course if I am walking down the mall. I am looking for beauty unless I am interested in that person i would go for personality after looks.

if only "looking" is considered than I cannot see a personality so I would see the looks. The appearance is the most important in this question

Well, everyone notices the 'beautiful people', and because looks are the first impression you get, I think that's what most people SEE first, but personality is what counts.
I have known very attractive people who become uglier by the minute because they're just nasty people. I've also known people who were much less attractive, who have gradually become very hot because their personality shines brighter than their appearance.

I know it's shallow, but definetly looks, I agree with baby_wrestler... no offense, but who's going to go up to a person they think is ugly and start talking to them? attractiveness is definetly a plus, but if that person turns out to be a jerk, it's not worth it.. there are plenty of hot fish in the sea ;)

the first i see is their looks. then if i like their looks i try and get to know their personalities. but sometimes while i try and find out about their personalities, i see their behavior and i get so disgusted that i stop finding things about them
