Seriously, women need to keep a thin figure whereas men need to beef up. I think they should make men sized portions at restaurants and women sized portions at restaurants. (The women's meal should be atleast 33% cheaper than the man's.) Good idea?

1) I agree that women on average require less food metabolically and calorically than men
2) having different portion sizes in restaurants is a bad idea. It's too complicated. Maybe it'd be better to weigh everyone who enters the restaurant and feed them based upon their body size or weight, or what they need metabolically... But how would you determine their metabolic rate, since there are men who need less food than some women. And then how to communicate that back to the cooks who'd have to adjust their recipe for each person... Nope. Bad idea.

The average woman is smaller than the average man (5 foot 4 as opposed to 5 foot 9) but that doesn't mean all women should eat less than all men.

My girlfriend eats enough for about 4 people but she plays tennis and football, goes running, swimming and mountain biking pretty much every day. If she ate the 'normal' amount she'd wither away.

Whether a woman keeps a slim figure or not is up to her. It's the media that dictates to women that they should be slim and the consequences are often anorexia and bulimia.

Eat healthily - not what's dictated to you.

No.

My metabolism allows me to eat anything I want and not gain a pound or inch. I realize I am lucky in this but it puts your generalized question to the test.

I am 46 years old. I gave birth to 3 ,10 pound boys (rounded off) who are now 13, 15 and 17. I am still the same size I was in High School (5'11" 155 lbs. ,well proportioned and can still wear the old jeans).

There are so many men out there that think they are "thin and fit" when in actuality they are not.

Maybe your version of "Beefing Up" is a Pot Belly, Double Chin and those HORRIBLE Man Thighs (Those are really ugly). YUK

I think they should downsize the Men's portion of the meal just to reward the Women that work so hard try and stay thin!

No Way i love to eat and i keep a good figure mu husband and i just went out and finished the same seafood dinner cleaning our plates and we were both extremly full after eating the same thing alot of women just dont have good metabolism and others that do can eat anything and not gain weight so know if that was the case many of us would still be hungry after our dinner and really jealous of all the food you would be eating extra and i think its a little shovanistic too in way like you are saying women are fat and should all eat less so they can be perfect when in reality none of us are perfect

HO HO HO

Yeah, fat is fat no matter what SEX you are.

I am a fitness consultant and have worked with both . Men do eat more than women because mainly they are taller, broader, and have more muscle mass than women. BUT both need to watch what they eat and how much they eat to stay healthy.

Good idea for a certain MAN is to be a woman for 1 full month and enjoy all the fringe benefits of a 100% woman. Then come back and ask some questions. Things that make you go HMMMMMM!

interesting idea but nah... I'm slim and i eat a lot more than i should, but then i exercise too so there's a balance...and plus genetics and metabolism has to be taken into account, if you don't eat enough to keep your metabolism up you could start putting on weight. I think we should just stick to the usual kiddies sized and adult sized meals... that whole 33% thing is a bit of a stretch on the price though :D

I don't think you can break it down by gender, there are 6'4" athletic women and 5'6" sedentary men; the woman would need more calories.

But I do think more restaurants should have "half portions" for people who don't want (or don't think they need) a huge portion. Usually when these are offered, it's plenty for me, a smallish woman who unfortunately doesn't get much exercise.

Umm maybe, the average woman's size is 5'3"-5'6" and 135 lbs, they are supposed to have about 1000-1200 calories a day, and men are supposed to have about 1200-1500 calories a day, but it also depends on what lifestyle the man/women leads, if the man doesn't do anything than he needs to keep his food down to maybe 1200 calories a day, but if he is exercising constantly than that's different, so no, they should not have separate meals, it always depends on what lifestyle he/she leads.

We could all do better at eating smaller portions. That's why there are extremely overweight men AND women. Yeah, there's something sexy about a small-figured woman. But I like a woman with a little meat on her bones, too. Nothing wrong with it.

I don't think so everyone should just eat enough to get proper nutrition. An anorexic girl needs to be eating more than an 300 pound man
