I just bought an external hard drive and wanted to back that data as well as data from my primary disk somewhere and wanted to know how can I do that? Thanks

I can recommend you Acronis True Image for that. I think it is the best solution to use True Image with external HD. It will provide you a maximum speed of backing up and restoring data. The best piece of software you can get is GHOST. It will back your entire system up (compressed if you like) and you can restore. I believe Nero does it also but Ghost is awesome. I have 5 backups of my computer on a 2nd hard drive and it's awesome. Definitely well-spent $$. Go to e-bay - not expensive... get the latest version (I think it's Ghost 10).

in other to do that,you will need to get a software for that,right now am using mcaffe all in one and it have the backup tools in it,so what i did,i locate all i need to do and did the backup stuff. ti work so smooth,so get a software like mcaffe or norton,then locate backup function and follow the screen instructions

You could burn the data to CDs or DVDs.
