What was the color of neanderthal skin and hair?

I understand that we don't know anything from the genome yet of what color their skin or hair was, but i was wondering if anyone had any hypothesis about it? You could argue that their skin was light and their nose long because they lived in cold environments.

We don't know for sure. There's no fossil or genetic evidence. However, they lived in Europe and the northern Middle East during an ice age. Therefore, they weren't getting a lot of sunlight. Light skin would've been an advantage in this situation because it would allow the absorption of more Vitamin D from the sun, thus preventing rickets and other bone disorders. (This is why northern Europeans have light skin today.)

I would imagine their skin color was tan and their hair light brown because of the warm weather climates.

They lived in Europe, so their skin would be the same as other Europeans. Those from the north would have been fairer skinned than those from the south of Europe.

It would probably depend on their environment. Maybe there were no remains from warmer climates. If you die in the everglades, the remains probably wouldn't last long. If it was Alaska......Come to think of it, Eskimos have dark hair.
