Connections with very favorable people is the only other way besides raising butt loads of money (5-6 figures) and contacting their publicist. Unless you have enough rich kids at your school that can agree on the same band, it ain't gonna happen.

This may seem callous, but think of it this way: If they played for $500 or even $5000, they'd never be able to catch a break, and their attainability would start making them less cool.

Well, honestly, it probably comes down to money in most cases.

Bands have managers. You can finally find information about a band's manager on its website. Write to the manager and ask them how much it would cost to hire the band to play a private gig.

It is not unheard of for bands to do exactly this sort of private gig if the money is right.

If you have a compelling reason why they should perform ("Hey, Rolling Stones, my friend Mike is your biggest fan and he is going to die! Please play at our school!") you can try mentioning that, but I suspect that for most bands, the money is the best you can offer.

And, heck, some bands might not even do it for that.

Anyhow, doesn't hurt to contact some managers at some performers' websites. Good luck.

If you want FAMOUS, you better be able to shell out the cash or have some really good connections. I heard that Britney Spears charges like $10,000 for just an appearance. Check out your local music scene and give them some exposure.

go to their official website. There will be a contact us link, click that. Then it will tell you how to get in touch with the booking agency. I have a feeling your school would have to do one heck of a fundraiser to afford to pay someone. This is not cheap. Good luck.

1. contact the bands booking agency.
2. be willing to shell out thousands, if not millions of dollars.

Get a charity involved, the publicity will be good for the band and for the charity and for the school, everybody wins.
