for you to tell me what my hard drive looks like (to the point that I could understand...)and/or tell me how to remove it?

I froze my pc... is it possible for me to fix it on my own? (btw... I know nothing about the inside of a pc...) I can't turn it on now, Foxfire has disappeared, I lost all of my files... any suggestions - seriously!?
Thanx!!!

hum... you need to give us more details.. what do u mean u can't turn it on?
does your screen show anything?
or really the whole computer isn't making any noise when u turn it on?
if u hear some sound when u turn on ur computer (the sound of the cooling fan or power supply, whatever), then it might be your video card or monitor problem...
if the situation is u even cant hear any nose made by the computer, then i think it's probably ur power supply is causing this....
i am learning computer hardware too... i hope this helps Good luck

You can't turn in on at ALL --

Are you sure it's your hard drive? When you say AT ALL, you are telling me that your computer isn't even giving you the BIOS start screen and attempting to load the devices that are attached to your computer - DVD and CD ROMS, Graphics card, Hard drives etc.

More specifics are needed. From "AT ALL", I am gathering that either your motherboard went poof, or your power supply went out the door. Does it make a sound when you press the power button? Do you get any type of graphics display on your monitor?

You need to tell us more about your computer. What is your operating system? It's not all that uncommon for computers to freeze.

Try turning your computer on.... and while it's booting up - press F8..... just keep tapping slowly till it catches - you should start tapping when you see the Windows logo or maybe just before - as it's booting. It should bring you to a screen that says 'boot to safe mode'.... or something like that.

You want to boot to SAFE MODE. If you are using XP, when it boots, it may ask you, "Press Y to boot to safe mode or press N to RESTORE to an earlier time"...... something like that. What you want is to RESTORE to an earlier time and pick a time that you remember your computer booted properly. Hopefully it's not more than a couple of days..... and then let it do it's thing.

There are many reasons a computer won't boot. You need to let us know what type of computer you're using and what your operating system is because windows 98 does not have the restore feature. ME does though.

First of all unplug your computer.
Then open it(use a screwdriver).
The harddrive looks like a rectangular prism. Its usually gray.It has writing on it that says stuff like 20000mb.
After you locate it, then it should be easy to take it out( just take out some more screws).
And then you can replace it or whatever.

Hope This Helps!
