If you spot the brownish/pinkish discharge for a couple days before you actually start your period, what would be the first day of the period? From the day you start actually bleeding or the day you first notice the discharge? Dumb question, I know, but I'm getting some bloodwork done that has to be taken on day 3 of my cycle and I don't want to miss it. I'm assuming it's day one on the day I start bleeding, but I'm just double checking...

Good question! The first day of the cycle is the day when you have bleeding. It is quite common to have 1-2 days of spotting before the bleeding begins. Anyway, most lab results (hormonal, I assume) will not be significantly different whether they are done on the 3rd or the 5th day of your cycle.

I would count day one from the day of the discharge. Check with the doctor to be sure.

I THINK ITS WHEN YOU FIRST START BLEEDING NOT THE SPOTTING. BUT TO FIND OUT FOR SURE CALL YOUR DOCTOR AND YOU CAN ASK ONE OF THE NURSES THERE. GOOD LUCK. I HOPE EVERYTHING TURNS OUT OKAY.
