8, assuming you pick all 3 red marbles 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and then all 4 blue marbles 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th, the 8th will have to be green, thus having atleast 1 of each.

Let's start with Why does the boy have 11 marbles in his pocket? And, are marbles really solid colors anyway...

Ok, I'm focused on your actual question.

If he only takes 3 marbles out, that could only be one color. If he only takes 7 out that could be the red marbles and either all the blue, or all the green. If he took 8 marbles then that could just be all the blue and green. He needs to take 9 marbles out. It would cover him pulling out all the blue and green and one more for the red. 11 would be all of them and that is just overkill.

But still, why does he have 11 marbles in his pocket? Are they not weighing his pants down?

In the worst case scenario, he would draw all the blue and green marbles out before any red ones, so the answer is 4+4+1 = 9.

9. He COULD take out 8 and have 4 green and 4 blue. The next one has to be red

9 because if he takes 9 out he will have one of each color.

At most he can have:
4 green
4 blue
1 red

Since there are more green and blue you add them. Then
there are 3 red left in his pocket. Yout only need 1 more
red to have one of each color.

Hope this helps....

8 (eight) (VIII) (IIIII III) . You will leave one to every colour so
3 red - 1 red = 2red so 2 red marbles will be taken out.
and take each 3, out of 4 blue and 4 green because 4 - 1 is equal to 3 so you take out 3 out of each. 3 + 3 + 2 is equal to 8.
