My frend gave me a compaq presario that is about 3 years old. He gave it to me with a virus and i had to reformat it. I installed windows XP and now when the installation was complete I rebooted the computer and now a blue screen pops out at startup and then the computer just restarts.

Hardware issue.

Couild be motherboard, could be bad RAM, Corrupted Bios...do you see the bios post messages...or a windows boot screen or anything else.....could be a bad hard disk too.
