Yes. All Desktop PC's are capable of having additional hard drives added. Depending on your operating system you may be limited to a certain number or the size of hard drives. There are several ways you can do this. First you need to decide if you want an internal or external hard drive. I recommend an external hard drive because of ease of installation and the fact you can just unplug it from your old computer and plug it into your new computer instead of copying and transferring files.

You can find USB and Fire Wire external hard drives. USB 2.0 is faster than Fire Wire. You simply plug the external hard drive into the computer, Windows and Linux will automatically recognize the drive. In Widows you will be asked to format a new drive when you try to access the drive. After the drive is formatted all of your settings for that drive and data stored on that drive will be the same for any computer you plug it into.

If you have a Network you can buy Network Attached Storage or NAS. This will allow you to access your external hard drive through your Ethernet or wireless network. It is just as easy to set up as a USB or Fire Wire hard drive.

Finally the most traditional and difficult way to install an extra hard drive is to open up your case and connect it to the power supply, set it's and your original hard drives jumpers, connect the IDE or SATA cables, and secure it in the case all the while taking precautions against static electricity. You may also have to change your bios settings to get everything to work.

If you choose to go internal I highly recommend you have a professional do it for you. The NAS, USB, and Fire Wire drives can be installed by anyone in minutes with no difficulty at all.

Windows limits drives to be from A to Z. Once you hit letter Z you can not install anymore drives to on a Windows computer.
A = Floppy Drive
B = 5 1/4 Floppy Drive
C = Windows Operating System Boot Drive
D = CD/DVD ROM Drive

All other letters will be used as drives are added. Linux does not restrict the number of drives that can be installed.

Yes the dv8000 laptop can have two hard drives in it and no you don't have to buy the hard drive from HP; any brand will work. The drive has to be SATA150 and a 2.5 inch drive. Any of these hard drives will work

As for an external drive any would work. I have four different brands hooked to my dv8000 and they all work fine.

perhaps, perhaps no longer, it relies upon on the rated wattage of the flexibility grant. HP is mythical for putting in ability factors that are slightly adequate for the gadgets that contain the laptop. Open up the case and seem on the flexibility grant, it particularly is going to state the wattage on a label, if it particularly is 350 watts or greater helpful, you may put in yet another HD, yet i'm having a guess it particularly is not

That's a laptop, right? Add an external USB or Firewire drive, or replace the internal, unless you have 2 bays. Consult hp.com or your manual to find out.

You could do it yourself, but you would have to buy the drive from HP. As for an external drive, I don't know if a generic HD would work. HP is a proprietary system, if you don't get it from HP, it won't work with your computer.

I believe the Pavillion series are desktop computers. Yes you can add a hard drive if there's room to put it inside.
The usb idea is easier.

If you are asking this question here, you are in over your head. Take the computer to a service center and ask for an upgrade.
