I've been dating this new guy for a few months now. Before that I was in a serious relationship for 3 years with somone who has full custody of his 2 young kids. Last night he called me and wanted me to come over because of a family crisis involving his kids. I went over to his place because I was really close with his daughter and I wanted to help. After everything settled down, we talked for hours and I ended up crashing on the couch and he drove me home this morning. Nothing happend other then talking and holding him while he cried but my new boyfriend doesn't believe me. I hold a deep place in my heart for his kids and will do anything to help them even if we're not together. And he needed someone to talk to.

I'm thinking of breaking up with him because of how he reacted and wouldn't listen to a word I said. What should I do? I have no desire to get back together with him The crisis is not over and they might come stay with me for a few days until everything is sorted out

look for the most part you did the right thing, but the staying over is a huge no no and even if you didnt this is what happens and think about it you can see why and sometimes the wondering is worse than really knowing, so i'm guessing one of two things here either you just dont care about this new guy or respect him, or you just made a huge mistake and unfortunately with these kinds of mistakes its to late when you learn them and usually you just try not to do it with the next one well really you wont do it, good luck Kim

I think it depends how serious you are about the new guy. If you have only been with him for a few months, then it's still a pretty new relationship. You should sit down and explain to him that you wouldn't do anything to purposely hurt him. Let him know you only intervened on your friend's (ex boyfriend's) behalf because you care about his children and wanted to make sure they are OK.

Certainly staying over night gave him reason to doubt you, but he doesn't have the right to tell you what to do. You need to set a clear boundary with him.

The new guy is always going to feel threatened by someone that you had strong feelings for. Wait a day or two for the apology. If it doesn't come, your relationship may already be broken.

Hes either jelous or maybe hes cheating on you and thats why his jumping the gun and saying that your cheating on him. Alot of guys do that. Try and talk to him, trust is a big part of a relationship if he does not trust you then I would call it off.

Wait for the perfect quiet time with him to talk. Or call him and say that you really need to talk.Tell him that you have some guy friends that will be there for you and you will be there for them. If he doesn`t understand or doesn`t belive you I hate to say this but he is too untrustworthy for you.

P.S. Thanx for saying my question was interesting!
