I bought another betta he's kind of small and he doesn't "fan out" when I put the fish bowls side by side. The fish I had first reacts quite well how most do. My new little betta doesn't get it yet... any clues as to why?

because they are in bowls. they need to be in heated filtered tank. keeping them in room temp is about 20F lower than they should be kept at.

cold temps slow down the fish in every way, lower the immune system, and make them just weak in general. get a 5 or 10gallon tank with a filter and heater, divide it (make sure the divider is either mesh or has wholes for water to flow through) and put both in there. plant is well so each can hide if they don't feel like seeing the other. both will be much happier and active.

First off are u should u got a male betta, the females are usually the smaller ones. And if your sure then well maybe the new one isn't as aggressive as the other one. As so a lot of store tend to put the jars of bettas side by side, maybe he just got use to seeing other fish around him, after all it's not like he can smell the other betta. But truthfully some bettas are just real mellow unless provoked. I have four bettas, two share a tank with a screen split down the middle, so those two definitely know the other is there, but don't care. The other two each have there own tank, and they are set next to each other one flares up, but the other could care less.

There could be many reasons. One is he can't see the other betta fish. Another could be that he is OK with the fact that he is not the only male betta fish. In rare occasions male betta fish can get along just fine even if they live in the same tank but please don't place them in the same tank! As you said before the first fish you had reacts the same as others which shows he is aggressive so don't put them in the same tank. I hope that helps!

That "tank" is a techniques, way too small, and it desires to be cycled earlier ever introducing a fish. A 5 gallon tank is optimal. you could desire to have a heater and gentle filter out. No agitators or bubblers, Bettas are actually not stable swimmers, and hate currents. 2 Bettas will kill one yet another! in case you like 2, get a 10 gallon tank, and a divider. The exception is women human beings. you will have 4 or extra in a 10 gallon tank or bigger. on no account purely 2 or 3, in spite of the undeniable fact that. to boot to a 5 gallon tank with hood, heater, gravel and gentle filter out, you will choose genuine or silk flora (on no account plastic), water conditioner, water attempt kit, thermometer, gravel vacuum, a pair of latest, unused buckets, a small internet (for uneaten foodstuff, on no account internet a Betta in case you could help it), and decorations as needed. make beneficial something you put in your Betta's tank is ideal for aquarium use, loose from any sharp or jagged edges, and is the two too super or too small for the Betta to swim into and get "caught." I feed my Bettas Hikari Bio-Gold Betta pellets. they're nutritionally sound, reasonable, and accessible very almost everywhere. I feed the toddler-sized pellets, they only look much less stressful for the Bettas to devour. sooner or later a week, feed him not something. Their digestive equipment desires an afternoon of relax weekly to function mind-blowing. i exploit that day to accomplish my weekly partial water replace. I strongly propose doing lots extra learn earlier finding out to get a Betta. they're astounding pets, and truly properly worth holding, in case you do it mind-blowing. A healthful, properly-cared-for Betta might desire to stay extra suitable than 5 years! while you're new to aquarium holding, circulate to any e book shop or library and get some beginner's aquarium holding books, and Betta books. that's sturdy to have a minimum of one quantity reachable for reference. i in my view have 4. Pay specific interest to a thank you to accomplish a fish-much less cycle. as quickly as your tank is desperate up, that's the 1st element you could desire to do. it may take a month or extra, so delay buying your new pal till the cycle is completed and your water is sturdy. you have lots to learn in case you elect to succeed and have a healthful, chuffed puppy. notwithstanding if, any Betta proprietor might additionally help comprehend it is so properly worth it!

I don't know because I had some fish in the tank with the Bettas, they were Neons. I think they did notice each other, but the Neons hung together in a group, but the Betta didn't hirt them or touch them.
