Eli is not a BAD quarterback. People just think that because he's Peyton's brother that he is supposed to be as good as his brother. He's been in the NFL for what, three seasons? The Giants fell apart this year. Eli can and will improve (especially now that Tiki Barber is gone. They're probably going to end up looking to Eli a bit more to get things to happen).

Remember when he declared that he would not play for the San Diego Chargers. He heaped a lot of expectations and negativity upon himself with that statement. The trade that the Chargers pulled for him further heaped expectations on him. Finally, he's playing in New York, the media capital of the US(and he's not far from Bristol, Connecticut either.)

P.S. The only thing Eli Manning needs to be good is a better recieving core. david Tyree is a good special teamer but not an offensive starter. Sinorice is a joke. Tim Carter is okay. Plaxico Burress needs to be more reliable. don't forget the Giants started doing bad after Amani Toomer got hurt in week 7. the next week they beat the Texans, but they are the Texans. eli had a 71% completion rate before Amani got hurt so thats a factor right there. the giants need to draft a more reliable WR. Their Starters will be something like 33 for amani and 30 for Plaxico.

Eli was a number 1 pick with high expectations and he comes from the royal family of football. Because he's a Manning, he was taken with the first pick. He didn't have the most experience. Philip Rivers had more starts at NC State. Ben Rothelisberger had the better arm. But he's a Manning. People saw Pro-Bowler Archie Manning and the great Peyton Manning, future hall of famer. they thought he could follow in their footsteps. but they saw there was a major difference. Eli is nothing like Peyton or even Archie. Look at Peyton for example. His work ethic is amazing, he studies more than any other player, he has tons of confidence, he's got one hell of an arm, he reads the defense like no one can. basically, it's because peyton works to get at the level that he is. eli doesn't. he lacks confidence, messes up his tecnique and it just seems like he thinks he can do well without the work. but i don't think he's that far behind. but as long as he was the number one pick AND his name is manning (which is more pressure than the 1st pick) he will be judged and criticized until he proves his worth.

Eli does carry the family name of Manning, and with the success of his father and his brother he has a lot of expectations to live up to. Many of those expectations are probably unfair since each person has different abilities.
However the trashing probably comes from his whining and insistence on not playing for the San Diego Chargers who drafted him with the first pick of the draft the year he entered the league. The combination of his whining and his father demanding that he not play for that team is why people give him so much heat.

OMG!!! i love you....thank you for not bashing Eli manning...
Ah..... and i don't know why these ppl are so bashing him just cuz he's the lil bro of Peyton. you gotta give the boy some time to find his rhythm to see where his strengths are. I mean in his 3rd season and 2nd as a starter he is already lead his team to a playoff game. I'm pretty sure that there will be many more playoff games to come for the boy. i personally think that he is pretty good. he isn't bad....he has skill but hasn't had the right coach for him.(sidenote: freakin' fire Coughlin, he sucks not in the game any more) But i believe that Eli will do good things.
Also i think that he is extremely hot....sorry i know but its coming from a girl. Again he is extremely HOT~~~!!

Okay, for now, Peyton has the trophy, and Eli doesn't, but that may change. Eli hasn't had the opportunities that Peyton has...he might not take nine years to win a title game.

cause hes cocky and doesnt play that good. His also dumb for switching to the giants from the draft. (chargers go such a benefiet off that trade 3 pro bowlers; nate kaedin, phil rivers, and merriman)
