The friend has no use for women; never dated; no relationships and now (counsels) troubled youth. Am I being far too suspicious?

No! Drugs and alcohol CANNOT "CAUSE" homosexuality.
Do not be naive. His friend is and always will be homosexual.

Drugs and alcohol are known to lower inhibitions, so be suspicious. Most likely, the friend is gay and just allows alcohol to take the blame for something that he doesn't want to admit to.

That's idiotic. Nothing can "cause" homosexuality. I think your fiance is probably a self-loathing closet homosexual.
Drugs and alcohol can lower inhibitions, making one more likely to act on sexual impulses (whether heterosexual or homosexual.)

Drugs and alcohol can lead to homosexual BEHAVIOR, just like it can lead to criminal behavior or other acts that a person would not do when sober. But they cannot change a person's sexual orientation. You are what you are - gay, straight or bi.
