He's actually The Prince Of Wales (not whales), and is also The Duchy Of Cornwall.
It's a hereditary title.
Prince Philip is Greek.
I hope you understand this, as you seem to be struggling with the English language.

The heir to the throne, Prince Charles, holds the hereditary title of Prince of Wales - Wales is a part of the United Kingdom, not whales that swim the oceans! He is also the Duke of Cornwall.
Prince Philip, whom is also the Duke of Edinburgh, is originally from Greece.
As you seem to be struggling terribly with the English language, it may be useful to know it is permitted to use capital letters also!

Its not an environmental thing and you may be aware of a country attached to us called Wales. It has been tradition in the Royal Family to make the heir to the throne the Prince of Wales. This is a bit like the tradition of Brit families taking their kids to Spain on a holiday. There is nothing written down in black and white but it has been done for quite a time. They don't have to think about it too much. Prince Phil hails from Greece. In those days the one who was going to have the crown was expected to marry someone of near equal status without risk of inbreeding Prince Phil was a good pick.

In the late 13th early 14th century English nobility was having lots of problems, too many people wanted to be King or ruler of the country or different parts of it, you need to remember that the order of succession that is now established was then frequently fought over by those who could raise armies etc. The Welsh people were disputing the right of an English King to be ruler over them and this is the main reason why there are so many castles built in Wales, the English used them as power bases to rule in Wales. So far so good, along comes Edward I, an English King with four sons, three of who all died before their Father and the fourth one went on to become Edward II. Edward II was born in Wales and to help his Dad become more popular with the Welsh the story goes that Edward I presented his then new born son to the Welsh people proclaiming him as, the first, Prince of Wales. So the tradition continued up until present time where we have the present, Charles Prince of Wales. The present Prince Charles was invested with his title by the Queen at a ceremony in Wales so continueing the tradition that the Welsh should feel some loyalty and ownership and participation in the UK monarchy. Prince Phillip, the present Queen Elizabeth II,s husband was a Prince of Greece and Denmark. He joined the Royal Navy and his title of Duke of Edinburgh was a wedding present by the then Princes Elizabeths Father. If I remember the full story correctly the Queen & her husband were on holiday at an African Safari Park called 'Tree Tops' when the death of her Father was announced.

Prince Phillip is from Greece-his parents were the King & Queen of Greece before being dethroned.
The Prince of Wales is a title bestowed upon the eldest son of the monarch at the monarch's discretion. It was intended as a salve to the Welsh people after England conquered the country. England gave them their own personal overseer, in a sense. Prince Charles takes his title and duties very seriously, having a home in the country and learning the language.

The person who will inherit the Throne is the Prince or Princess of Wales, usually.
However, Prince Philip is of German ancesty. His "nationality" was Greek. He was originally known as "Prince Philip of Greece." He really had no last name. In fact when he proprosed to Princess Elizabeth, a committee had to form to "figure out" what his last name would be. No joke.
His Grandfather was living in Belguim when the Greeks offered him a job. The job? To be their king. He accepted and became the King of Greece, his daughter, Prince Philps mother went with him. She married a Prince Andrew and her name thus became "Princess Andrew." (any woman not born a Princess who then marries a Prince, becomes Princess so-and-so, not her own name). Princess Diana and Princess Sarah should have been called Princess Charles and Princess Andrew, but the British Press would have none of that! It just wasn't romantic. The Queen's first cousin, Prince Michael however is married to Princess Micheal of Kent (she is Catholic and wouldn't convert) so he was booted from succession to the throne.
So, Princess Andrew gave birth to Prince Philip of Greece. He was sent to live with Lord Louis Mountbatten (used to be Battenberg but when WWI started it sounded to GERMAN, so it was changed to Mountbatten (means the same thing). This IS ALSO when the Royal Family changed their name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha are ALL places in Germany). So, Prince Philip (a 2nd cousin once removed to Princess Elizabeth Windsor) lived with his own uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten, a famous Vice-Roy for India for Queen Victoria while she lived. He entered the British Navy and quickly moved up the ranks.

Because back in the Thirteenth century the coast of England was full of whales, thus the man who could capture and ride the most whales would be crowned prince, hence prince of whales.
Or it could be due to the fact that as England and Wales are unified crowns and Wales is only a principality the crown of wales is given to the heir to the English ( and Scottish) throne. i.e King of England and Scotland (top dog), then Prince of Wales (next in line).
Prince Phillip is from Greece.
I prefer the first explanation.
