The only way to know definitively is to get an x-ray done. Symptoms of a wrist fracture include pain, swelling, discoloration, heat and warmth, limited ability to move, and deformity. If you have severe pain, deformity, numbness, or are unable to move your wrist, you should call your doctor for an immediate appointment or go to an urgent care clinic or a hospital's emergency department. If there is no deformity and the pain is manageable with over-the-counter pain medication, you may want to wait 12-24 hours before deciding whether to call the doctor. If symptoms persist after a day, see a doctor. If you have obvious deformity, numbness, or severe pain, you need medical attention. In the meantime, apply ice to the area. If there is no obvious deformity and you are not in severe pain, you may want to take some acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil).

It could just be a sprain. Swelling and bruising are signs of a break. Keep it wrapped in an ace bandage. Apply ice to the area and take Tylenol or ibuprofen for pain. If problem persists over a few days, then seek treatment.

don't worry. i broke my wrist once twice, so i would know what is going on. if you feel pain, whenever you move it then that shows that either the bone is chipped, or it is broken. if you ever had a problem or you tripped and caught yourself with your hand on the ground, that means, its broken. whatever you do try not to move that much or else you'll only make it worse. it should heal in between 3 or 4 weeks.

My brother recently broke his wrist, and from just seeing the way he was, I can tell you your wrist is not broken. He was in tears and couldn't move his whole body out of fear it would hurt. He never cries, so it's not like it's a common thing. If your wrist was broken you wouldn't be on the computer, you wouldn't be typing.

The only way to tell is by having it x-rayed. Go to an ER or a walk-in clinic.
If this is a stress fracture, the bone is broken, you still might be able to move it but it will be painful to do so. (Been there, done that.)
