You have two choices... you can either be your own best friend or your own worst enemy. Let's assume you opt for the first choice. The only person who can help you achieve your goals is YOU. On the subject of goals, don't just brainstorm goals but write them down and make them specific goals along with a time frame. I don't want you to write, "i want a good job" but rather what kind of job? where do you want to work? how much do you want to earn??? Be specific. Now, under those goals write down the baby steps you need to take to achieve those goals. If you want to go to college, start off with visiting a college for a course schedule and tour and talking to an advisor. If you want to visit the San Francisco Zoo, plan how much money you will need and what you want to do while in San Francisco... what hotel will you stay at? what restaurants do you want to go to for dinner that Tuesday? Be specific. Each goal must have a plan of action. Get started with the simplest task and move forward to doing something each day to achieve those goals and before you know it, you will have accomplished every goal you've set for yourself. Don't expect overnight achievement and make sure you consult with people who can help you. If you want to quit smoking, talk to people who have quit smoking and they can help you. If you want to write a book, start with an outline. You can do whatever you want to do in this life but only YOU can take the actions to do them. You have another 40 years of work and another sixty of so years of life. Please start today to do something for yourself. Get a counselor, find a mentor, read a book, but don't dream of success... do something to achieve it!!!

First of all, youre never too old to make something of yourself. U could start by sitting down and making a list of your goals. Things u wanna do right now and long term. U could also make a list of things u could do right now to make your life better with the most important first. Then work on it, one by one. U could do better on your next job or your current job and when u leave, always put in a notice. That looks good to other potential employees. But try to find a job that you will like and stick with it. While u r working sign up for college or a technical school and do something that u would like to have a degree in. There is financial aid to help with the expenses. U could go 1 or 2 days a week if ya want. Just take it day by day and enjoy life. I wish u the best of luck.

Fotunately, it's never too late to be able to make something of yourself.
Check if there's any agencies in your area that help the homeless, people just out of jail, etc. They might know of some vocational training programs, or people who will hire you.
But, first, you have to ask yourself why you are the way you are. Why did you only have 6 jobs in the last 10 years, none of which lasted more than 3 months? Are you difficult to get along with? Lazy? Disrespectful of authority? You will need to change these things about yourself before you move on. Maybe you had no good role models in childhood - your parents were the same way. But there is hope. Check your phone book, newspaper, etc. Some churches offer free counseling and/or support groups for people in transition in their lives.
Set some goals for yourself, then look at what you need to do to achieve them.

You have a long life ahead of you, and you don't mention marriage or children, but life just gets more complicated and you have to be ready for what life throws at you....
My hubby and I had a baby and I really wanted a change of pace and more money, so I decided to go back for my Masters... Best decision I think I've made.
In colleges or universities there are tons of positions that pay for at least 2 courses a semester. I think you should get a job at your local community college and get back to school. You'll be in an environment that really motivates you towards the right direction.

Why don't you take some courses? Are you British? There are loads of courses you can do with Learn Direct. Go to see a careers adviser. What type of thing would you like to do? There are plenty of options. My husband would like to be a pest controller, don't ask me why! He has to train and he wants to start his own business. You could start your own business at any age. 26 is still young. Say if it took you 2 years to train for something you'd still be under 30 and any firm would take you on. Oops I missed the highschool bit, so you must be American. I'm sure there are still heaps of courses to do over there. Can you get grants if you went to college?

Grow up and take responsibility for your life. I suggest taking a job in the offshore industry on boats or on a drill rig. VERY good money they feed you 4 times a day for free and you work 2 weeks on two weeks off most of the time.

once I hit those moments, I tell myself that that's not fact. that's my attitude of issues that makes my existence crumbling to the floor. I tell myself that that's purely a 2d, that it will pass, and that quickly sufficient, i might desire to have regain a sparkling and beneficial prospect on existence. i attempt to attend and notice with myself and look ahead to those undesirable waves to circulate away. because of the fact, that's purely that, a feeling of being caught that takes over me and kidnaps all different components in my existence so as that i won't be in a position to work out something. purely remind your self this and attempt to proceed to be calm till it passes. What additionally facilitates me, is to remind myself I continuously have a call, i'm not caught in a crumbling existence, i'm able to do something else, i'm able to leave, i'm able to alter my paintings. i think of that's mandatory to remind your self which you're on top of issues because of the fact while this sense takes over, we right now replace into the viewer and not the actor of our very own existence. wish this might help. sturdy success to you
