I'm I the only one that thinks Rocky Balboa is one of the best films in the Rocky Series?

I rated it as second, only behind the original, and the most interesting bit is for the original and this one, the director and writer was a one Mr Sly Stallone. I agreed that it may not of been ambitious, and I would of liked a reunion scene with Duke to set up the training sequence and maybe a little bit more character development of Mason Dixon but still, all in all, I liked the movie and felt Rocky has left on top, has a new life (with Marie) and can be content.

I think it'ws really unambitious, but what it sets out to do, it accomplishes really well. It's not really a story about boxing but about two men that have reached the stages of their career (Dixon) and their life (Rocky) where they feel empty and lost and are out to prove their worth to the world.

It is fairly downbeat and does try to maintain a level of grit and realism as well as respect for the earlier movies. By in large it's a success and the nostalgia propels the movie into 4 star territory.

The one thing I was upset about was the rushed nature of the Training Montage. Duke just sort of shows up, there's no reunion scene and we're never shown Rocky attempt a certain sort of training and then realise that his age won't let him, forcing them to adopt the "Blunt Force Trauma" approach.

I wanted Rocky to reach a moment where he really doubted whether this was the right decision. I wanted a cheesey flashback to Adrians' bedside and she'd tell him "your whole life was a million to one shot, you never let anyone tell you you couldn't do somethin', not even me, the only person that could stop you was you, I'll always believe in you you Rocky. I love you. WIN!" - close up of Rocky's eye (of the tiger), he closes his eye, a single tear runs down his face, he opens again with a firece purpose now bursting from within him, and then......

dun du dinna na dinna na nuna..........

That's extremely picky, but they just sort of 'started' the montage without much of a build up and it lost it's impact for me.

Good movie all round. The fight is pretty great.

I've not seen it, but I've heard Stallone making the best joke of the year so fdar : a journalist had asked him why he made this 6th Rocky movie, and Stallone replied : I wanted to be Governor in California, but the job was already taken... This sentence makes it worth to see this movie, I think...

ive heard it is one of the best and that there may be an oscar nomination come february or whenever the awards are announced.i havent seen it yet and i refuse to go to the cinema so naturally i will make my own little contribution to the deconstruction of society by getting it on pirate

I have seen it, it is a little slow, but a very good movie. Almost as good as the first one.Can you believe it has been 30 years...sigh
