I love Second Life, but find it almost unplayable because of lag. I have a good PC and an ADSL connection, but its constantly lagging, which makes it hard to enjoy the experience. I've dropped my draw distance down to 64, but its still doing it. Could someone give me any reason why its so laggy - like, is it the game or my computer?

It might be your connection.DSL is fine for surfing but is kind of slow for online games.I have cable and it sometime lags also.I suspect the more people online the slower it gets.

It could be your computer or it could be the game. Their servers might just be buggy but it is more likely that your computer has issues. Try minimizing the amount of programs running in the background. You might need some upgrades to improve performance. If your computer does not already have 1GB RAM, 2.0 ghz processor or faster processor, and a graphics card with at least 256MB, then it is time for an upgrade. These upgrades will ensure that gaming will be at least a decent experience. Also, don't forget to scan your computer for viruses and/or spyware. Those can drastically decrease a computer's performance.

It has been really laggy for everyone I know the last couple of days. Wouldn't surprise me if its due to the new release. If you don't already have one, get the nVidia video card with 256 memory or more. It hade a huge difference on my system.
