I think maybe we just need to redefine the idea of "peace." Think about nature. Nature, barring the actions of humans and beavers, moves toward balance and what we think of as peace. But when you take a closer look, you'll see that in nature there is constant competition for survival. Carnivores constantly competing for the tastiest prey, plants competing for the most rain or the busiest bees, it's all a constant (but balanced) battle to live. Evolution occurs in imbalances - it's the very definition of survival of the fittest.

Perhaps if we stopped struggling for dominance and made strides toward balance, then all our lives would be a lot more peaceful.

You are right about it never existing, I was trying to think of a time in history when it did exist, and I came up with nothing, how sad,
All the wars and all the atrocities that have been committed trying to attain peace, and the lives and the trillions of dollars spent, for what?
I do think it is just human instinct craving peace or coming close to it.

I like Bee_Gee42's answer to your question and I would add that I think balance (rather than dominance) and a sense of peace can be achieved if the world can be more local, even as we become more globally connected. In other words, thumbs up on global relations and communication, and thumbs up also to local farming, small local government, and grassroots organizations/community life.

peace does exist. just because there is war somewhere in the world doesnt mean that peace isnt in a thousand other places. perhaps your claim that peace doesnt exist betrays your lack of inner peace. when there is conflict inside you you see only conflict outside you and between you and those around you. when you have peace inside you, then you can see it outside you as well.

wow, only because you're pessimistic does no longer mean anybody else should be you'll really watch the international roll in its dirt and wreck itself? you'll really watch human beings die terrible deaths by conflict and ailment? peace isn't no longer plausible, you imagine of absolute perfection and peace what's obtainable is a tender stability, there'll continually be undesirable, yet you could't provide up on peace, have you ever given up on existence, because existence has it truly is many downs wow, your view only baffles me
