Walk only if you feel up to it. In the maternity ward they should have a big ball--you can bounce on it, doing squatts should help. Old fashioned home remedy is-castor oil(should definately work). If all else fails have sex--that should knock it out of you.

Get as much sleep as you can now.
Congrats.

Wow, your situation sounds like the one that I had! I too was 38 weeks and lost my mucus plug. I had a day of labor, after losing it, and I did walk, which helped my contractions become closer together. I walked for 30 minutes (stopping in between contractions of course) and I did this about 3 times that day. That night (at 2:45 in the morning!) my water broke and I had my son at 11:30 am the next day. Walking does help move things along, as does stretching in different positions. Are you dilated at all? If so, I would say that walking would definitely help. Let us know when you have the baby! Congrats!

walking does not work sex doesn;t not work it just makes you feel good. I'm full term as well and i have tried everything that everyone on yahoo answers has told me to try and known of it works i just refuse to try caster oil cuz i dont want to be sick at the same time and i also am in horrible pain, when i walk, get up any movement hurts then along with the back aches that feel like spasms . it;s bad bu thats just part of being pregnant. Just wait it out i know thats not any where near what you want to hear but it's the truth. Good luck.

Don't over exert yourself, you are tired of being pregnant but save your strength you will need it for labor. Stay well fed but not heavy greasy food, and hydrated, because after you go to the hospital in labor they will only give you ice..(generally)Just do your normal routine, rest when you are tired, and if the contractions start make sure they are regular and steady. If your water breaks or you are having contractions 2 minutes apart call your ob and get to the hospital

walking is always a good think, but just do it alittle at a time, don't over due it. Most people who lose their mucus plug go into labor within a week anyways. You don't want to over do it. Save your energy and good luck

With all three of my pregnancies I used to walk around and around my neighborhood .Just stay close to home ,and keep your cell phone with you for emergency.
Congradulations to you! And Happy Pushing! I know I had to get slapped 3 times before I realized that I REALLY don't want to feel labor pain for the fourth time.lol.

I'm not sure about walking, but I heard that taking a warm shower helps to go into labor.

If you want to self-induce labor, try rolling your nipples for several minutes, several times a day. It causes the uterus to contract, and contractions are what get your cervix dilating and effacing.
