You need to read some Noam Chomsky.
Lets see we install dictators use their countries for our benefits.
You know how many millions of people have been killed so people in this country could get wealthy.
Most people believe we would have invaded Iraq if their main product was pickles and lettuce.

The whole rest of the world doesn't hate us, but many people do and it's not because they're jealous. Until recently, a majority of the world's population consistently said they admired Americans. So why the change?
IMHO, the reason is because the Bush administration spent its first term blowing off the rest of the world acting like a bunch of arrogant bastards. They rolled into Iraq over the objections of the UN and on fabricated evidence about WMDs. Then as a reward, the American people elected this swaggering light weight to a second term and we are now seeing the consequences of all that hubris.
Also, in some parts of the world, like Iran, people hate us because we supported tyrants (like the Shah) who ran their countries like police states, but gave us access to cheap oil. All the while we were trumpeting how much we valued freedom and equality. That kind of hypocrisy isn't soon forgotten, even if we here remain conspicuously ignorant about some of the things our government has done to other people around the world.
Also, we're the biggest polutor, though we're only 5% of the world population and we refuse to do anything about it because we're afarid it might harm our economy.
To sum it up, because we're acting like a bunch of selfish bullies.

The President of the United States prefers for you to believe the rest of the world hates Americans. If Americans believe the rest of the world hates Americans, then Americans will be more willing to kill them before they kill us. This supports the President's war efforts.
A religious nut with a bankroll named Osama bin Laden led a small group of likeminded zealots to crash some planes into large buildings in the United States on Sep 11, 2001. The United States govt chose to respond to Osama's very serious crime by making war against Afghanistan and Iraq, including dropping bombs on the populations of those countries, destroying businesses and civil infrastructure and torturing prisoners. Until Oct 7, 2001, almost every responsible person in the world was sympathetic and willing to help the United States govt capture and try the criminals who had attacked Americans on Sep 11. But the US govt chose on Oct 7 to bomb the people of Afghanistan, instead of capturing the criminals. The United States chose warfare and attacked innocent people when it could have pursued the criminals by legal means.
Many of the people in the world, including many Americans, have been appalled by the barbarity of the behavior of the US govt since Sep 11, 2001. Some of them blame all Americans for the behavior of the US govt.

to be fair, not all of the rest of the world hates us entirely. Politics, Sanctions, and religious differences keep people from seeing "eye to eye."
Politics can improve relations or destroy them. Sanctions and policies could do the same. Religious differences, although most people interperet things diffenetly, choose to view things in favor of themselves or their own country....for instance the whole middle east situation, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and so on.
My own view on the whole world is as different to someone across the oceans, (Myself being an some what educated and well traveled American), as is their outlook upon us.
What i mean is, the conflicts are geographically closer to say, someone who lives in Saudi Arabia, than lives in Las Angeles. Therefore, the anger intensifies twards us at a quicker pace, because we are so far away, while they have to deal with the problems "next door". Again, not everyone "hates us", they simply don't understand us, and visa versa.

Americans have an overinflated sense of their own importance and an unbearable air of superiority. This from a nation where thirty percent of the population cant read and an even smaller percentage holds a passport ! You are way too insular and dont have much respect for other nations. America is just a baby compared to the worlds ancient civilisations and cultures.

As a Canadian, I wouldnt say that I hate Americans ( we're to nice and neutral to hate anyone ) but I think that Americans sometimes need to mind their own business. In a world of such controversy and conflict, Its sometimes better to concentrate on your own people and their economy, health, and well being. I think that the world has alot of fear that the US will create conflict and then other countries will be called upon to fight. America is a great country, its just too bad that they cant seem to decide on peace.

hahaha! It's funny how you ask this...we just learned this about a couple of months ago...in science class! How weird is that? Anyways, the reason the world hate Americans so much is because we Americans contribute to much of the global warming from our big use of oil...we also don't share our plentiful resources and basically we're just selfish Americans who likes to flaunt how much we have....(by we I mean you because I'm not an American...I may live in America but I don't consider myself as an American) ^^

because we come off as arrogant in our foriegn policy toward most other countries.
We are the lone superpower in the world and that means we have to do certain things to stay in power and ensure no one checks our aggression. This can create resentment in other people...they don't like to be kept down.
Its not that they hate American culture because most of the world has adopted our commercialized products...theres a Mcdonalds or Starbucks everywhere...its a hatred based on our policy history.

Because they view us as arrogant and self serving. Our leaders have long ignored the use of diplomacy and try to force our opinions and values on the rest of the world through intimidation. How would you feel if someone with more wealth and power consistently looked down upon you and imposed their will upon you?
