This is a common question. At this point you're supposed to explain not only why you can do the job, but why they should pick you over other (presumably qualified) applicants. It's good to stress what benefits you can bring to the employer, but don't overdo it - nobody likes a kiss-@ss.

Say good things that are possibly trite and then add one last thing at the end that will make you stick out from everybody else.

Something along the lines of:

I feel that I am fit for this job because I am motivated, loyal, punctual, and always try my best at everything I do. I think I'll be a strong asset because I have people skills, a friendly disposition, and I can lead and follow when you want me to. And then the thing that will make you stick out, about your personality or some other talent you have like you're good with computers (every business has one) or you're a great designer (for bulletins, ads, etc.).

My response would be:-

I am experienced in doing this kind of job.
I would hand the interviewer my work resume.
I am honest.
I am responsible.
I am quick to find extra work when I have time.
I will be an effective member of your team.
I have respect for the the work you are wanting to be done.
I have researched the job criteria you require.
I would then pass the interviewer my research paper.

Because I feel that I am the best person for the job. I am loyal and understand that the process of hiring an employee takes a lot of time and money. I promise not to waste your time and money...etc..

Tell them why you'd be good at the job. Why did you apply for the job in the first place? When I was applying at a CD store, I told them that they should hire me because I love music, and I'd have fun selling music. I got the job.

I ALWAYS ask this question when I'm interviewing applicants. I love the stammer and that goggled-eyed look I get when I ask it, heheheh!!!!
