My 10 month old son just got his upper and lower two teeth. Right now he is in the habit of grinding them and it is soooooo annoying to me and my wife. LIke scraping your fingernails across a chalkboard. Is this behavior normal? Do I have anything to be worried about?

HI THERE PURPLE HAZE,
The reason your 10 month old does that is because he is teething. and that is one thing they do during that process. Try
buying one of those teething rings and put in the freezer till it gets
real cold, then give it back to him so he can get some relief for his teething.

Yes try giving him a teething ring after letting it sit in the freezer for a little bit. And if that doesn't work I found these Popsicle shape teething toys that you can put anything like fruit or just an ice cube in it. I gave that to my little girl and it seemed to help her stop the grinding of her teeth.

Or if you can find that there's also a teething toy that shaped like a star with a handle and the yellow star vibrates when ever they bite down on it.

My four year old daughter is doing it now. Yes it is so annoying. She only does it in her sleep and it wakes me and I sleep across the hall. I don't think you have anything to worry about until they get their permanent teeth, then they may have to see the dentist if it keeps up.

I wouldn't worry too quickly, but do mention it to the doctor next time. It may be a sign of something serious, or it could just be a bad habit.

Yes my son does the same when he is teething or when his teeth hurt. If I notice that he's doing it bad I just give him some tylenol.
