I have this "pinching" feeling at the base of my neck/shoulder blade area. It comes and goes, but its feels like a quick, sharp pinch with some warmth. It's not what I would call painful, more like annoying. My Husband says I probably pulled a muscle or something like that picking up our son who is 2. I feel silly calling or going into the Dr. but, it's starting to bug me and I'm worried maybe it's something worse? Or I could just be overreacting. . I'm just at 36 weeks pregnant so every little feeling, I worry myself sick about. I was just curious what everyone's opinion was. Thanks in advance.

I should have elaborated more, it's hard to describe though. . it's not on the side of my neck. . its more in the front, almost on my the top of my chest. . just below the base of my throat? I hope thats a better description!

Sorry to hear you're uncomfortable. Sounds like you may have pulled a small muscle or even stretched the stuff (technical term there, right?) between your ribs. I think your hubby may be right. Try to take it easy with the lifting and if it's still bugging you on Monday, I'd try the nurse line at the doctor's office. Good luck!

Sounds like a pinched nerve to me. You might have done it by picking up your 2 year old. And it won't go away on it's own. See the doc. They may have meds that you can take. Sometimes a neck brace helps too. I try jamming a pillow into that spot and sleeping that way. No more picking things up. Especially the 2 year old. i would go to the doc though. You need it taken care of before the baby gets here. It can make you lose the strength in your hand and won't be able to pick things up. A dishtowel literally becomes too heavy to lift. You need that hand for when the baby comes. Good luck with it and the baby.

Could be some muscle tension or you could have strained something being off balance with your pregnant belly. Try to relax, get your hubby to massage your neck and shoulders with some lotion or oil. Still after a day or so, it doesn't go away, mention it at your Dr's visits, you should be going every week now. Dr's have heard it all so don't be embarrassed to ask. Pregnancy affects every woman differently and in the third trimester there are lots of discomforts and aches and pains that can happen because your body isn't used to being this size and shape. Good Luck.

Your husband is right. Go to the Doc. Just a muscle or something

Go to the doctor. You probably have a herniated disk, that's the pinching feeling.

Pinched nerve maybe?

Google it and see if the symptoms coincide with what you are experiencing.
