I am currently a freshmen in college, and I want to be a pediatrician. My major right now is Child Development, and I am not enjoying any of the courses that I'm taking. What other classes would you reccomend me take besides Child Development and still become a pediatrician?

The important thing for you right now is getting into med school. You can major in anything you want, as long as you take the required pre-med classes (chem, bio, organic chem, etc.). I know people who majored in English and got into awesome med schools.

I don't think that you need any special classes in undergrad to be a pediatrician. You have plenty of time to decide in med school what kind of doctor you want to be, and what kind of residency you want to try for. My med school friends didn't decide until maybe the beginning of the last year. You do a lot of rotations, so you get to know what you like and don't like.

You can major in anything you want to got to medical school, but you have to take certain courses that are required from the medical school which are mostly science and math courses. Also you have to think about the MCAT, and it has alot of science and math involved, so I guess you should start taking some courses that could help you get into med school.

I'd recommend a science or a math class. Science more so because you need a lot of science in order to apply to medical school.
