eating too quickly is bad for digestion. You would be saving the school from tummy aches by giving them more time! oops, wait. you are against it? umm...then maybe you should cut lunch short to prevent all the kids from eating too much?

Some reasons against:

1. Students have after-school jobs and they would have to give up the job or ask for a reduction in hours.
2. After-school athletic contests such as baseball games or track meets would need to be rescheduled for a later time.
3. If there's open campus, students might be more tempted to skip out on the afternoon when they've gotten into the relaxation mode.
4. Students and staff will have fewer after-school hours during which they can go to doctor appointments, get a haircut, etc.
5. Since there's not that much to do during lunch time, it could get boring.
6. Extending lunch means more hours out the day to be spent at school and fewer hours remaining for recreation, studying, or other responsibilities.

The extra time allotted for lunch would be wasted & extending the school day would take away from homework time. Those in after school activities(sports, etc.) would be required to spend more time at school & most likely get home after dark in the winter months. Teenagers driving after dark have more accidents than they do during the daytime. Therefore, it also becomes a safety issue.
