i saw the replays, but i didn't see it live, it seems they would have been more careful not to do that, but i know accidents will happen, they are doing a good job playing it up like it was intentional though.

i guess what i was really asking is, did he really get hurt/broken nose and all, the replays looked very realistic, but by all the answers here, i know for sure now.

I'm really sure he volunteered to shatter his nose, have internal bleeding and 20 stitches.
I can't believe someone thinks they would fake or plan something like that. It was real obviously. Joey's face was almost unrecognizable after the injury.

complete accident, that busted nose and all those stitches were real, at first he had thought that he lost his sight because it felt as if it punctured his eyeball, lucky for him it didn't, of course as usual, it was supposed to of looked as if the ladder just took them all out, but he was just a little too close for comfort and got nailed pretty good, then they added it into the story line to continue on with the already ongoing feud with the Hardy boys.

Accident. Just another hazard of the job.
They turned it into a storyline, but he's still hurt.
And he looked f'ed up afterwards. I felt bad for him.

It was not planned but the WWE is promoting it in their show. Mercury getting more fame like Nitro.

No that wasn't planned. Mercury just stuck his nose where it didn't belong. He got exactly what he deserved.
