Listen, my young son recently got into my props drawer, and found some props, such as beards, fake knives, and some false grapes. Now, I have no health insurance, so I cannot take my son to the hospital to get them removed. He his having trouble going to the bathroom, and I am beggining to get worried. Anyone have any insight into this problem?

The best solution is to use a strong laxative because it seems that the fake grapes are fairly deep into his rectum. If at all possible, try to remove the grapes by hand because the laxative may cause complications if there is heavy blockage.

If the situation gets worse, take your son to a hospital immidiately because there is a strong possibility that scarring of the lining of the rectum may be permanent and cause infection.

A pediatric enema or a plain old fashioned warm water enema to which you can add some very mild soap to. Just please make sure you know how to give the enema. If you buy the pediatric one (probably your best bet and safest), the detailed directions are in the box along with the proper amount and nozzle for needed to give the enema. If this does not produce the grapes, you really do need to take him to the doctor. Laxative use for children can be dangerous and is rarely recommended.
