Hey Kiddo: : )
Unfortunately this problem creeps up from time to time during your whole life. I am in early 50's and had to rethink my wardrobe so I wouldn't dress too young either. But if you do still look good in the styles that are more younger oriented, go for it, especially on days or times when you do not need to look professional. You can wear a trendy shirt and more "grown up" pants or skirts and vice versa. Or a young looking purse and shoes with non-junior type clothes. On days where you need to look professional or "older" wear classic looking styles with the main colors in black or camel, grey or white (or even younger clothes in these colors) and then maybe wear trendy boots or a cami under a tailored shirt. You can add a splash of a bright color with these basic colors. I love pearls and I think they are appropriate for any age but you can look more grown up with a strand or as many as you like with an outfit. You can never go wrong with pearls. Earrings, bracelets and necklaces- any or all. Of course silver is younger looking and you can wear your classic styles with layered necklaces with a cute pendant and/earrings- something like that. Layering your clothes is always stylish- younger and older looks using layering. Also a nice belt, classic jacket and trendy jeans will make you look a little older. I would start with just a few classic styles and see what kind of feedback you get- from your husband or whatever- or just see how you feel in them. You have plenty of time to look old so have fun with your fashion. There are not too many rules now. When I was young you couldn't wear white after Labor Day! Glad that is over. Play around and have fun with your clothes. Set your style. Have a signature piece or pieces (like my pearls). You are certainly young enough to do that. Hey, I wish I could still wear a shorter skirt but alas I just went beyond that! At my age and almost any age, I feel that unless it is super trendy and you won't get much use out of it, get good fabrics, real leather purses and shoes and you will look much better- no matter what. Ebay and TJ Maxx have great stuff w/out spending tons of money. Hope this helps.
Hey Lisa Below:
You are thinking of St. John Marie Gray which are more for career girls and/or some "older" looks. They are very expensive. Are trying to come out with some more trendy clothes. Angelina Jolie wore St John Marie Gray to the Golden Globes- not that I care! SJ Bay is different. Just an FYI for asker.

I'm 25 yrs old and married with 3 kids and I still shop the junior section. Do it while you can. You're not too old. I shop from all departments if I see something I like. It's all about your own style. I think even a woman in her 30's could shop in the juniors if it fits her style. Of course I wouldn't suggest wearing daisy dukes and low cut tops but you know what I mean? I became a mother at 21 and I feel like I was forced to dress like an older woman because of that but everyone made me realize you don't have to wear "mom" clothes just because you're a mom. I think you should just dress respectable. There's always an in between. You're still young ...enjoy! :)

I am a bit older than you at 31, but totally love Ann Taylor Loft. It is still relatively affordable, and they have tons of really nice clothes for casual to dressy. They have great separates, dresses, skirts, etc. You can still look chic, and pulled together but not like a woman dressing as a teenager.
I personally think you aren't old enough for St. John's Bay. I think middle aged house wife with that brand.

To look mature, you need to have classy clothes that present you to the world. Since clothes are expensive, buy a few inexpensive things from JCrew or boutiques in your town. Make sure that they're versatile and will work with other clothes you have. For example, get a bright, well fitting dress that you can wear over jeans or by itself. Just make sure to be you and have fun with it!

girlfriend, if you look good enough to still look good in junior clothes then i would say wear 'em! now if you ever think you might look a teensy bit ridiculous then dont buy it, lol.. youre still young, enjoy it, re think this question when you hit 30.. thats just my opinion.. now there is also a time and place for everything, including what youre wearing, remember that also..

I HATE it when older people try to dress young. the worst thing you can do is show too much skin. just go with cute tops & jeans or whatever
