Why is it that in our world today there are thousands of people dieing thousands suffering and thousands being oppressed. Yet people talk about big brother are they not living in the real word. Why not ask when is oppression in Zimbabwe going to end or why are children dieing of starvation when there is so much food.

The potential damage of Big Brother should not be underestimated, and if our freedoms are compromised we may not have the ability to do anything about that oppression in Zimbabwe or those starving children.

There are times when safeguarding what is important on a large scale is every bit as important as dealing with any of the other awful things in the world.

not everyone has the opportunity to go to 3rd world countries and play god love.
you think your special because you went over there and did your piece? whats the betting that oppression and starvation is still happening after your 3 month stint?
people talk about big brother because racism/bullying and ignorance are still as big issues as oppression/starvation etc so stop judging.

Would you rather be happy or sad?
Easy question to answer, but how about would to rather someone else be happy and you sad?
People don't like paying 5 pence more for petrol yet they get a loan out to buy a plasma. They are hardly going to simply 'give' their money away, this has always been socially wrong, as money has always been shown to be a personal thing, and 'giving' it away is considered abused.
I hope this helps you understand the selfishness of human beings. Im not saying its a bad thing, it must come from self preservation instinct, everyman for them self.

Due to the fact that those social ills are not knocking on our door. It's not like a Nigerian clogged your toilet, or a child from Sudan drank the last of the milk. It's not immediately presented to us, and due to our fast paced culture, with the instant-gratification that has plagued this society, our vision is short sighted.

These people have nothing to worry about or they would not be worried about big brother. It makes me sad to think some people have no regard for human suffering . I hope they are filthy rich when they get old or they are in big trouble. I believe you sow what you reap and thank god my children have respect for people and animals. ps I know how you feel
