You need to Degause it......Push the menu button on your monitor and find the selection that says "Degause" and click it. your monitor will flash and then be magically OK

Most monitors have a degause function but some do not.

its broken and will stay like this forever. time to get a new monitor. the crt monitors are good and not to much $$ for them. never ever but magnets around a computer. luck it was only the monitor. if it was the computer its self you would be buying a whole new PC. The monitor could still go out.

If you still have a black and white monitor, a magnet will not do anything to it after you move it away from it. It will cause the image to bend where the magnet is, but will go back as soon as its removed.

No, it shouldn't, but the magnet damages are permanent. thats why you always want to keep magnets as far away from computers, monitors, TV, and other electronics as possible!!

no but the screen might look like that for a while... unless you take the magnet and try to spread the colors around on the screen, that what me and my freind had to do when he put a car stereo speaker on top of my T.V. (car stereos have magnets in them) then we just took the speaker and spread the color around on the screen. its fine now.

Degauss (demagnetize) it should work.
Look for buttons on monitor below screen, push to get a menu, select till you get Degauss or wavy line symbol, press button to degauss.
Will improve, if not, local computer may have degauss coil to buy or they can use theirs. If still no love, buy LCD monitor.

Magnets + Electronics = Bad. It won't break, but it might not recover from its current problems.

It wont break or go black if it hasnt already. Give it some time and hope it goes back to normal. You might have to get a new one.
