Whats that philosophy saying..."Everything starts from the home"? I'm not quite sure but im sure you've heard it before. Meaning, try to improve on your social skills at home first. Talk to your parents, brothers, sisters or anyone who u live with. Ask them how was their day, what did they do today or what are they planning on doing today? Or simply ask "whats up?" or "how is everything with you?". You might say "ahhh i dont kno about asking my mom or dad or anyone who I live with as a matter of fact, we're not that close". Thats the whole concept, developing social skills. It not only helps you as an individual but as a very good relative also. It's a win-win situation. I could go as far and say maybe thats why your having problems with your social skills because you dont have a "communication foundation" with your family.

Start by saying "Hi" to people that you know like at your church, in your neighborhood to people that you know. And then it would help you build on that. Ask people how there day was. Just every day question's that they would do on a regular basis. Ask questions that would require a response instead of a one or two word answer For instance.
1) How are you today? Fine (one word response)
2) What did you do today? Today I went to work, watched TV went for a walk and so on (require a response.)
These are way's you can improve your social skill's. To make sure you are asking question's that are more then one word responses.

Social skills is a 2-way ingredient, save in recommendations. do not in reality talk about your self yet make the attempt to invite about the different man or woman to boot. Oh, and save in recommendations the guidelines of proper etiquette. That looks to reveal human beings off.

In addition to the above mentioned things, its time to get to the root of the problem as well. Is there something about you you just dont like? For instance, I have ugly feet. No really I have a short toe and I have never wanted anyone to see it so I never took swim lessons. Or went to the beach. Or anywhere that involved taking off shoes and socks. Do you have a problem that you may not realize is a problem?

Smile, and be yourself. Others are uncomfortable in social settings also, and you can always find something honestly good to say about someone even if it's that you like their tie.
That makes most people feel good, and they will respond positively to you. You can then begin a conversation by making a statement about yourself, and ask them a question about themselves. You'll be talking in no time good luck

. Improve social skills - Do you always wait for the new people to come to you or do you ever start conversations with new people?
It is an important ability and a scary task to start conversation with new people. You will need to start conversations in the workplace, conversations are essential to make new friends at school, and your eventual spouse will even be someone that you didn’t know from birth most likely.
The only way to be close to a person is to talk to them, often before you really know anything about them.
2. Improve social skills - Do you look comfortable in a room with new people, or do your posture and nonverbal cue give away your lack of social skills?
To improve social skills, it is important to look at your nonverbal cues and the way your present yourself to new people. If you look uncomfortable or carry yourself in a closed off manner, people will not feel like they can approach you.
If you carry yourself in an open way, people will be more likely to approach you and start conversation you may find you really enjoy.
3. Improve social skills - Do you remember to write thank you cards or to say please before you ask for something?
These simple acts are often taken for granted, but they can be very important in identifying where your social skills are. A person with developed social skills will say please and thank you to people regardless of the size of the gift or the magnitude of the service.
4. Improve social skills - Do you feel like you can choose topic material that is appropriate to speak about with new people?
Starting a conversation can be a lot of guesswork, and there is always the risk you will offend someone. To avoid offending someone, do you understand rules of social interaction enough to pick topics that are appropriate?
5. Improve social skills - Do you listen to what people are saying to you, or do you only give them half your attention? Do you find your mind wandering, or are you able to connect with other people and appreciate what they are saying?
A great way to stay in tune with a person who is talking to you is to committed yourself to saying reflecting statements back to the person that allows them to know you were listening and understood. These statements can decrease the numbers of misunderstandings and arguments.

Get used to asking a lot of questions and then really listening. People love talking about themselves so once they open up, it's easy from there :) My husband can do this with ease, but I always feel like I'm getting too personal but with practice, you get used to what questions to ask and how to read people.

If you want to practice social skills without feeling nervous or anxious, try talking to people that have to talk to you. Like waiters/waitresses, cooks, haircutters, etc... Most of them are really friendly, and would probably appreciate someone trying to talk to them
