I was born and raised in NY. I have found living here that blacks are ultra sensitive to anything that might somehow be construed as racist, however implied...even by accident, saying something off color..oun not intended. This leaves whites as thinking african-americans are ready and willing to label any person or company who they see as a potential bogot
When I moved to florida I worked in the trades with blacks and whites, let me tell you, there were straight up racists(white supremists) working for my company who wouldnt even acknowledge the existence of any black there.I worked with many blacks and their attitudes were different than I expected. They didnt care that some were racist, and LIKED northerners!
To answer your question:::::When BOTH races decide to let go of the resentment. There will always be bigots on BOTH sides it seems.
I also wish in NY that blacks stop using race as an excuse for everything and stop playing the race card. YES,there are plenty of white racists, but they are bigoted azzholes and I cant stand them either!

Racism has been a problem because everyone thinks they are the best. Being humble is a hard thing to do....and race is something easily picked on to discriminate against.
Solutions: maybe not soon, but all we can do is hope.....It really all depends on us, we have made a lot of progress but there is still a lot to do. it will never be perfect because the world IS NOT perfect in any way shape or form. Yet, we strive for perfection and that is all we can expect.
Blacks and blacks and whites and whites cant live peacefully now....why do you expect blacks and whites to be able to. it has nothing to do with race, but rather human nature that makes humans create basic instints about who is "bad" and who is "good."

Because the blacks keep it going. Notice there isnt a White Entertainment Channel, no best white actor awards, no white only magazine, and no white college fund. They want to be as equal as the whites but they still fight for segregation. Their own holidays and programs and colleges. Chris Rock can tell white jokes all night and say cracker a thousand times and honkies or whatever and no one says a word but when a white guy says the "n" word on tv, he has to apologize because it was a racist remark. Thats why racism is a problem, it has to be a two way street for everyone.

The problem exists for the same reason wars do, and even something as innocent as a high school pep rally designed to promote "school spirit." Any group *I* am part of, is better than the group *you* are part of.
The solution is not simple, but blacks and whites can live peacefully if each individual makes the effort. I live in a racially mixed neighborhood and have no problems getting along with all of my neighbors.

It would be nice if we could all just get along but I don't think that will happen anytime soon. These days it seems like some of African Americans are the most racist. Yeah I would be pissed off if my great grandmother was a slave and treated badly, but you can't blame people the entire white race for it. A lot of us had nothing to do with it heck, we weren't even alive at that time. How is it right to blame an entire race for something that certain individuals did? I watched a African American man put a gun to a cashier's head. Do I blame the entire African American race for it? No, I blame the sick individual for it.

Because people are scared of the unknown. Also many people come to conclusion about a person before even getting to know them. STEREOTYPES are what the problem is and how the media portrays these different nationalities the racism will never go away.
Black people: Bitches, Crack addicts, Well fair
Mexicans: illegals, Housekeepers, high school drop outs
the list go when is this going to stop?

Racism isn't just a problem in America. Look back at when there was Apartheid going on in South Africa. There were lots of white people there, but are they naturally African, not sure, but they did oppress the neighboring black people with racism. In other countries like India, you may run across classism. There was no skin color discrimination, but discrimination based on social standing.

with all the different attitudes and interests now, i highly doubt that we humans will get along with eachother on our own. with music influences, everyone's mind gets set on a different level and after that, they act as they had been influenced. One person will think higher of another because another will act out differently than another would handle a situation, causing the two to argue and then jumping to conclusions like racism. racism is stuck into their minds, so that no matter what kind of situation goes on, they automatically blame it on racism, making another think that the person isn't being fair, ('i'm not being racist, i'm telling you ur wrong' 'no you are racist, other wise you wouldn't have said anything' 'no, but if you are going to keep acting like that, it gives me a good reason to call it that.')
if people leave out the whole racism and seperation, then people would think less of it. but people just assume its one way and dont leave it alone.

racism for blacks is a problem because blacks promote it. when you have the united ***** college or miss black or whatever, thats fine for postive cultural vibes but when you say united white or miss white and so on...people recoil in horror. the bottom line is you cant have separate and equal at the same time. it doesnt work. , i feel you cant have it both ways.

All conflicts of this type could be solved by education. I will never understand how and why people could possibly think that the amount of pigment in a persons skin makes the difference between acceptance or non acceptance.
